Working their land, slaving but happy building a dome then a log cabin, all got derailed building Paul’s mother a house on their property, her disabled by multitude of conditions. Accepted into medical school (a surprise to all concerned, maybe not the least, Paul), it became increasingly clear that time to complete the cabin was running out.

They, Linda, became pregnant, and living in the dome without electricity or water even during the summer became unacceptable even to their back-to-the-land sentiments. They rented a nearby farmhouse , once occupied by farmhands, now deteriorating but oh so affordable, and with electricity, water, and heat. What luxury!
