Linda’s Social Self

Activist, Fighter; Friend, & Spouse

Environmental Champion, Medical Feminist; fierce and unwavering fighter for special needs persons; Human Rights Advocate – all fit Linda’s persona and social actions. The specific causes and actions varied across the years, but not her engagement and commitment. War, nuclear power, climate change and deforestation, wilderness protection, renewable energy, democratic values – it could appear she had a raft of predictable progressive causes. To some on the other side of the political spectrum, it might appear that she was a typical liberal tree-hugger. I doubt she would object to any of those labels, but she promoted her ideals with an openness to all viewpoints, rarely brittle or reactive. Atypical in how she acted upon her political convictions, Linda never lost sight of the humanity of those with whom she disagreed and was the most affable of fierce fighters for what she believed.

Likewise, Linda rarely failed to express a positive attitude with friends and everyone else. She unfailingly offered encouragement and a sympathetic ear to any person in distress. That was Linda, sharing who she was and all she had. She lived and embodied her beliefs in a uniquely remarkable way.

Above all, Linda’s activism centered around practical changes at the community and local level, for her son, Jared, and for women’s and elder healthcare.

Mother, wife, and lover: Linda was all that.

NOTE: Linda’s website intends to memorialize her life and her most elevated self. The Eulogy, the Timeline, and the Themes pages attempt to do that in the best way possible. Beyond what a Memorial traditionally addresses, aspects of Linda’s life become more biographical. Additional detail and reflections from her Life partner can enrich appreciation of what Linda accomplished yet may feel irrelevant or even controversial to others. To keep the primary focus on what matters most, additional detail is reserved for password-pages that interested readers can access by clicking on the button below.
